Excited, Nervous, and About to Jump Out of My Skin!

It started with receiving my acceptance letter as an alternate in the ADN program. Then I got my acceptance letter: a seat had been reserved for me! All of my hard work, the lack of a social life, the frustration, sometimes tears, sleepless nights, and doing almost nothing but studying at school, home, and work for over a year (and to think that was just prerequisites!) finally came together in the form of a lovely seat reservation. Now, I am super excited, but I am also so scared sometimes just thinking about the fact that I am FINALLY going to nursing school that I get dizzy just thinking about it. Am I the only one that has no idea how to feel about this on a day to day basis? I can't wait for classes to start, but it's like having to take a deep breath, close both eyes tight, and just jump in. I know, I know, keep calm, and carry on...

I was really excited when I got into my first choice school. I was so shocked that I had to call them to confirm for me, twice! It was such a difficult program to get into, and I didn't feel like I had the qualifications so I thought they made a mistake. I know I have been accepted, but I feel like I'm in denial about actually starting nursing school. I've been buying all my supplies and books, but for some reason, it doesn't feel real yet. I hope orientation will make me feel like it's happening!

Congratulations on getting in!!! That is soooo exciting!! I know exactly how you feel....I have been feeling the exact same way ever sonce I got my acceptance letter to start my ADN program this fall. Good luck!! :)

I totally understand. It didn't feel real until orientation when they called my name in roll. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I have to keep telling myself that this is actually happening.

As I opened my letter I saw in caps CONGRATULATIONS, I lost it, I balled my eyes out in excitement. It took me 5 years just to do pre-reqs because I have 5 children. I'm nervous of all the horror stories, but I am so excited to find my own story :) I know it will require lots of time, commitment, and money but I will do this. I have wanted this for so long that I refuse to do anything else with my career. I've been a CNA for 10 years.

Congrats on your acceptance :)

Congrats!

I remember when I got my acceptance letter. I ran through he house screaming with my cat looking at me like I crazy lol. It felt so surreal that I kept reading the letter over and over day after day until I seen my tuition and book/supply list and everything else I needed before I could start a then I knew it was real from how much I was going to be spending lol but no worried I will may it back x 10 when I'm a nurse!

Now I'm a year in and only a year left to go if all goes well. Congrats again!

Congratulations!!! :D :D :D

Welcome to our "club"! We're all super excited to get going! When do you have orientation?

I am so glad to see so many other people felt the same way I did when they got their letters, and a hearty congratulations to you all as well! It's the best thing ever! My orientation is June 14th, and I know hearing my name in roll call while sitting with my future classmates, especially those I went through prerequisites with, will make this very real. We have all worked so hard to get to where we are and we deserve to give ourselves a little pat on the back and a pep talk for the upcoming adventure that is called Nursing School. I can't wait to see what happens, because I know through it all, I will be shaped into the best nurse that I can possibly be!

Our stories are somewhat similar. I too have been a CNA for 10 years & it also took me years to finish pre-reqs as well. Well I just graduated this may and let me tell you nursing school flies by unlike doing all those pre-studies! Good luck to you..your going to do great. Love reading how excited everyone is! Ill never forget that feeling too!

When I first got my letter of acceptance to nursing school, and actually got two of them, one of the programs accidentally sent me a rejection letter. I still felt really good because I had at least got accepted into one of them, but I just have to contact the school that rejected me to find out for sure if I had been… And as it turned out, I had not been rejected, they just accidentally sent out the rejection notice to several people really truly had been selected.

I later got a clinical fail, did my exit interview and thought that I might have to wait quite a few months to get back in. Turns out that I got reenrolled into the program the very next semester and I had another one of those Yippee!!!! days like when I first got selected.

What was kind of surreal is that I'd applied so many times before and had gotten a rejection letter that I was quite surprised that I'd been selected at all...

I cried when I got my acceptance letter. My mom thought I got into a car accident or something when I called to tell her haha. I'm SO excited, but I'm still pinching myself... It just doesn't seem real!

Congrats!! Now the journey begins!
