I am an LPN of 10 years, completed all required prerequisites, and have anAssociate Degree. I've applied to Charity SON twice and was NOT accepted because I received a low profile score of a 55!!!! I submitted a re-evaluation form for Spring 2016 after taking history and philosophy w/logic for my BSN at SUBR, and was scored a 55 again. I was told I did nothing to improve my profile score, nor increase my GPA. How??? When My GPA went from: DCC 3.230 to 3.473, CSN GPA 3.177 to 3.33, and cumulative 2.664 to 2.722. I'm frustrated and have reason to believe someone is miscalculating the profile score, mad because I challenge them on their wrongness/unfairness, and I strongly feel that they're denying many qualified applicants. I feel that I've been wrongfully & unfairly scored in the area of (academic hardiness for CSN cirriculum), because I withdrew from courses taken for a bachelors degree in social work and had absolutely nothing to do with nursing way back in 2010. I was told those courses I withdrew from could be used for a humanity. How??? When I submitted a form called "Nursing Cirriculum Self Assessment" which listed course work I have completed!!! I'm furious, and I feel that someone is wrong! I've done ALL I NEEDED TO DO!!!

Philosophy and history are not required for the ADN therefore not computed in the gpa for scoring purposes

The w/d should have dropped out of your score though since they are > 5 years

@OnOn2RN I know that. I only took philosophy w/logic and African American history for southern university in Baton Rouge BSN program. I was told that history and English literature which I withdrew from in 2010 could be used as a humanity and I received 0 points in the academic hardiness of CSN cirriculum area for withdrawing. I was scored 55 points upon applying to the transition program and upon applying for the spring 2016 class. So this is unfair and wrong! I've been an LPN for 10 years, I have an associates degree, and completed all prereqs since 2008. This is BS

Did you speak with someone after this round? I'm not sure what the requirements are score wise for LPN transition students. But I do know the applicant pool was super competitive so it's not terribly surprising that some candidates - though qualified, weren't accepted because they weren't the most qualified

Im sorry that you didn't get in. Are you applying for the traditional program or the Lpn-rn transition? I'm sure you know that acceptance is extremely competitive. You dropped 2 classes within a 5 year period which is why you got 0 points for academic hardiness. I assume if you do reapply next application period you should get the points being that it will be outside of that 5 year window. Don't you get points for being an LPN also? What are your overall grades? I would definately look into retaking some classes to boost up your CSN GPA. What about Hesi score?

I get the frustration with not being accepted, however it doesnt mean that somebody is wrong. All it means is that although your meet the qualifications, there are others that are more qualified based on points. I don't mean this to be rude, but that GPA under 3.0 is probably a major factor in why you are not getting accepted. Also, a lot of programs don't allow you to fluff your GPA with random non-applicable courses. You may be including these courses when you calculate your own GPA, but if they are getting a different GPA it is because they are not counting some of the same courses that you are. Again, this does not make them wrong, it means just means that you don't qualify based on THEIR rules for how THEY qualify people.

I would ask for their admission requirements. I am sure though that they get a lot of qualified applicants. The low GPA may be a major factor in not getting accepted though.

Based on the info you posted in this thread I'm assuming your HESI score was also low. That is an area that you can and should improve as that indicates to the school how well you test and let's face it that's what they really want - you to pass nclex

My Hesi score was a 72.67% which I'm very aware of the fact that I didn't get points for. However, I am an LPN and I hold a degree. Also the requirements doesn't require an 80 or above on Hesi, it requires a 70! Therefore I PASSED!!! I will NOT patronize Delgado with any more money by retaking courses or the Hesi! The fact is that I took classes towards a Bachelors degree in SociL work and also towards obtaining a BSN!
