Thank you........this is wonderfully helpful!!!!!! :)

Cute!

When I first started nursing school, I had trouble remembering whether the PT was to check heparin or coumadin. The way I finally got it straight was:

The PT (abbreviation for Patient) can administer her own Coumadin. (Back in those days, there wasn't patient-administered heparin.) As long as I could remember that, process of elimination told me that the PTT was for heparin levels.

Another one to help remember which heart valve was where is that You always Try (tricuspid) before you Buy (Bicuspid/mitral).

Seems like there were other nmemonics (?spelling?) to help us remember other important items. Do you remember one for the cranial nerves?

Very cute indeed! We all memorize in our own way and I often use things like this or acronyms to make such data easier to remember. I've been a nurse since 1973 and never stop learning.

Yes, here's a couple for the cranial nerves: "On Old Olympus' Towering Top A Finn And a German Viewed Some Hops"

and then the one our prof learned in med school (now you may think it's awful but you remember it! LOL :-) "Oh, Oh, Oh, To Touch And Feel A Girl's lady parts, AHhhhhh.....

The way to remember which cranial nerves are sensory, motor or mixed:

Some Say Marilyn Monroe But My Brother Says Bridget Bardot Mmm, Mmm!

:sofahider I feel confused and embarrassed, and stupid because I don't understand the story, I get it a bit only because of the second one explaining a little something. Either way if it helps those of you that understand it then go for it, as for me I am going to do it the long drawn out tedious way:bugeyes:

I remember the "touching girl's" line better than the olympus riddle. The touching girl's nmenonic is from an old TV show called St. Elsewhere. I had to memorize the cranial nerves and motor sensory for CCRN in the 90's and always welcomed any help I could get.

Don't know if anyone knows one for risk factorsf for heart disease. These are the risk factors we can't control (not lifestyle factors): RASH= Race Age Sex Heredity.

That actually helps quite a bit!!!

I never got any of these things in school, but I get this one until the end...then it gets a bit obscure. I still get Lefty Loosey, Righty Tighty backwards...LOL!!

Sorry we are just as stupid in Riyadh. may be out bananas are riper:uhoh21:
