Nursing Students General Students

Hi, everyone. How are classes going? I am happy to report that our scedule has settled down somewhat and we getting somewhat of a break. We are having tests or quizzes once every other week now. How is everyone else doing?:)

Hello! Things are going well here. Will finish the OB mini term on the 16th and then will start the Med/Surg mini term. Advanced Pharm is going well. OB clinicals have been absolutely great! I think I may have changed my mind about critical care and may want to work in L&D instead! I am going to miss OB when we change. I can't believe we have only one more semester!!!

it's getting down to the "wire" for this frist half of the fall semester rotation of peds i with 2 more tests and then finals. so, it's intense!

I am with you on this one. I only have 1 day left in the OB unit too and will truly miss it. I jokingly told my instructors that I can go take my board exam now, I know where I want to go work after graduation....she didn't seem to think that was a good idea. Need to be "well rounded" you know.... I am on to psych next and NOT looking forward to that one. Tons of reading and then a test 3 days of every week. YIKES!!! Only good thing is hardly any care planning! I don't know which will be worse....

We finished up with our 4 week Psych rotation and will be finished with Acid/Base Fluids and Electrolytes as of tommorrow (ugh!! exam at 8:30am) and will be starting in with Burns and immunology. All this since Aug 21st. I'm in an ADN program and will graduate May 14, 2004.

As far as what we have left, last years grads say that the next 16 weeks are all that's left for the hard stuff and then the last 8 weeks are spent developing your nursing philosophy, an ethics papser, and doing your preceptorship. I am really looking forward to finally being done with school, I started in in January 2001 and took pre-req's due to the waiting list at school, couldn't start the program until June, 2002.

Good luck to all!!!

I barely qualify for this thread, because I graduate in Dec 04... but I'm here!!! This semester is going along very well, but good grief it's been hard to get back into the groove after summer vacation. I made the most of this summer tho' because we don't get next summer off. The only classes I have this semester are Med Surg and Diet Therapy. I took ethics, pathophys, and geriatrics this summer independently so I could free up some time during the school year.

grad in may 2004 and everything feels so much more intense. PLease pray for eachother, cause god is the only one who can get us thru this!!!!

Yea....I qualify!!! I can't believe that so many years of school and now I'm finally going to graduate in something!

I will also be done in the middle of May - 6 weeks after I'm due with my 6th baby! Our classes are only 8 weeks long so in 2 weeks I'm done with OB and on to Peds....

Just to brag a bit - the past two exams that we took I got the highest grade in the class (94, 96). It pays to have so many kids because it gives you LOTS of experience!

In January we have 8 weeks of Advanced Med/Surg and then we do our preceptorship. I'm going to get my preceptorship done in 4 weeks so I can have a baby and wait to graduate.

I'm so excited!!! Congrats to everyone!

karen, how exciting, your 6th baby! i admire you; if i were pregnant, i could see myself just sleeping and eating instead of study.

all the best to each of us!

Upcoming May 04 grad here! I'm doing the LPN-RN bridge program. We do it all in one day a week. From 8 am to 11 pm every Wednesday.

It's not as bad as it sounds. We have Med-Surg from 8 am to 12, then 1 hr for lunch. OB 1pm to 4. 1 hour to eat/dress/and get to wherever our clinical is and clinical is from 5-11pm. Very quick, very stressful.

So far I have an A in OB, but the Med/Surg is kicking my butt. I have a 78 average right now, and a test coming up this Wednesday. I don't want to enter finals just barely hanging on.

We lost 10 last semester. We have 32 right now. Hope we are all there in the end.

Ok, I qualify too!! Dec. 04 grad here. It feel so good to finally say I graduate next year (heehee even though it's at the very end) Everything is still hectic because I have a math eval. and mental health in the beginning of the semester. But, once that ends (our mental health ends at the end of Oct. thank god) than it's lec, clininals, and lab to focus on. Yeah, we have a quiz, practicum, test, care plan due eeeevvvery week. It gets so overwhelming!! But, than I come to a site like this and I know I'm not alone. Thanks!

December 2004 grad too..But for the LPN program, not the RN. Only been in class for about 4 weeks now. I am in a 15 month program and heard its a bit more intense than the 18 month program, because its more information to cram. I get winter and spring break and a week off for summer..

Anyways school is going ok so far. I'm done with medical terminology for this mod. I finished with a 98 average.(yes I am one of those grade freaks. LOL.) Fundamentals is going ok too. My class average so far is a 90. And A&P, which we just start last week, I have an 88 average. Especially with A&P I want to try to keep my grades up for those possible times I do get a bad test score. (Like my test score before last was a 77.5%..yes passing, but barely.)

We start Clinical next week at a long term facility. I am a little nervous, but not too bad, since I already work in a nursing home. Also one of my classmates is a co-worker and we are supposed to be at the same clinical site together and it's almost an hr away. There are about 4 different sites.) We already carpool to class.

Midterms are in a couple weeks..I can't believe it's almost time for them already. :)
