Nursing Students General Students

Published

Found out today that I am not accepted into my nursing program yet, but have been put on alternate status. Basically, there were about 100 applicants, 40 were thrown out right away because prereq's weren't done. Which left 60, of which they accept 40 per semester. My problem is that ALL of my prereq's are completed, nothing else I can possibly take. I really don't want to sit out a semester because I am 33, 3 kids, etc. and i am afraid I might never go back!! Anyway, they say that a few of those 40 accepted do decide not to attend, so there is a chance I could be called on, but now I really don't know what to do.

Thanks for listening, just had to vent that!

:scrying:

I am in shock! With the shortage you would think they would be begging as many people as possible! I have been a RN for 4 years and what I hear from students, new nurses, etc. is many schools are recruiting like crazy and offering all these lucrative deals---I thought it would be easy to get in these days--but the schools sure don't let the gen. public know that they are limiting the admissions. I understand you can only handle so many students, but only 40? I thought my school was small with 100

I wish you all the best and will also pray for you! Don't give up!

Dont give up. Find out who in admissions handles the wait list and

"remind" them you are around on a weekly basis.Be persistant, and good luck!

Thanks everyone, makes me feel alot better, there is hope!

About taking the classes needed, that is the problem. I have taken EVERYTHING needed. All I have left are the actual nursing courses. I attended school about 10 years ago, so all of my general ed classes are completed, plus all the prereq's for nursing. Maybe I could do PE classes or something! haha

Thanks again everyone, Im keeping my fingers crossed.

I agree with everyone else Don't give up. Any dream that any of us have is worth fighting for.

I agree with everyone, don't give up. I was notified about 3pm the day before Classes started, that I need to be at class the next morning at 9am. There is always a chance that someone may change their mind and not stay with the program. We had 2 that dropped the 2nd day of class, so we picked up 2 even after classes had started. Good luck

keep the faith!

some of those students already accepted will not show up or in the first couple of days or so, will stop for whatever reasons.

at least one semester will not be too bad to wait, because, where i attend, one would have to wait an entire year for a sit in the program!

i'll keep you in my prayers.

I just found out today that I wasn't accepted. Everyone had been telling me (including my pre-nursing advisor) that I was worried for no reason. It wasn't a very helpful letter, it just said that they were unable to offer me admission. I will have to wait until Monday to call and see if they will tell me why I was not accepted and ig there is an alternate list. I have a 4.0 and have completed all of my prerequisites except for my science elelctive which I take this summer. The only reason I can think of is that my SAT scores weren't high enough. Now what do I do? The only other school in the area that offers a BSN is built into a 4 year program, so I'll be behind a year.

So sorry RedVaz. You have such a good GPA and you are completed with the prereqs, I can't imagine what they are thinking. Good luck Monday, maybe they will tell you that they just screwed up!

RedVaz : Do you have to go for your BSN? Why not try to get into the RN or like me, LPN program and go from there. At least you will be doing something and getting exp. I feel for you, really! And don't you hate when you get something on the weekend and can't speak to someone until Monday:( . I never go to my mailbox on Friday or Sat. because I don't want to get myself worked up over the weekend.

I'll be thinking good thoughts for you too. :)
