  1. Sounds like you are a nurse to me!! Although you could use an outlet for your stress and EAP was a wonderful suggestion. I have had long standing anxiety problems and never saw a professional about it (probably should have). I am kind of a control freak in regards to myself. I force myself to calm down, take a few deep breaths, step away from the situation for a few moments, and clear my mind. NO ONE IS PERFECT Also, if your manager gives you Kudos then you must be doing a fine job. As nurses, I think we are constantly beating ourselves up because we can't do everything in one shift-- gee, wunder why?! haha Anyway, just know we understand and we are here for u--but do seek some one-one help------avoid pills if you can
  2. Thanx everyone for the heads up-JCAHO coming next year and we don't have that rbavto going on. It doesn't seem effective though. Doctors always protect themselves first. We have alot of heavy accents at our hospital, too--so sometimes reading it back isnt' necessarily helpful--THe resident just says Yes, Yes. You wonder if they understand YOU sometimes. (sorry a little off topic)
  3. mattsmom, you couldn't have been more right;)
  4. Normally my hospital is great- but for Nurses Week--everyone gets something. It makes the nurses feel even less appreciated. I mean, can't we have at least 1 day where we get recognized for all the hard work we do?! Why should secretaries and housekeepers and dietary aides get stuff, too? I applaud their work but how can the admin. justify them as Nurses? Oh well, just another way for nurses to get #$%*
