Anyone else dealing with a snorer?

Ugh! I can never sleep! My fiancee is the WORST snorer! I made him go to a sleep study and they said he has " mild apnea". Mild my patootie! I literally 1/2 can't sleep because of the noise and 1/2 can't sleep because he gasps and has BAD apnea. I am convinced he wasn't comfy at the sleep study ( he even woke up ealry and they sent him home). His Dr. told him to quit smoking and lose 10 lbs. Well he lost the 10 lbs ++ some and went down from 10 a day to about 3...hes on his way to quitting. But UGH! The NOISE! Yes, he also has a deviated septum.

My Dr. gave me Lunesta and it doesn't help at all.

Please let me know I am not the only one.

( PS we even sleep in seperate quarters now and I can STILL hear him!)

My husband really isn't very overweight - he did all this when I first met him and he was a skinny 19-year-old, too! One of the reasons I want him to have surgery versus going on CPAP is that I can TELL he has an obstruction by the way he sounds and the way he improves with certain positions. He also needs some nasal work done, as he can rarely breathe through his nose. The other thing is that we have a baby on the way, and he has to watch the baby 3 nights a week when I go back to work. I can't see him hooking up to CPAP and then being able to hear the baby cry. Plus we're both going to be so tired, I don't think he'll have the energy to strap himself back in every single time he lays down. I'd much rather he have his problem taken care of surgically first, so that we don't have to worry about machines. I actually would like him to get the surgery when I'm on maternity leave - my parents have already agreed to watch the baby for a day/night or two when it happens so I can care for him at home.

Specializes in ICU, ER, HH, NICU, now FNP.

Just FYI - my husband was much more alert and arousable by our son's cries after the CPAP because he wasnt so dead to the world.

I thought the machine was going to be noisy - but it's quiet I barely hear it at all. Chin strap is a MUST for those who sleep with their mouths open!

Specializes in L&D.

Well my hubby only snores quietly..but he tells ME I snore like a train LOL.

I do have some sinus problems but no Way would I have surgery unless I was dying..seen how its done hehe.

I sleep like a baby tho..don't wake up for thunderstorms.

Why do black widow spiders kill their mates, after mating?

To stop the snoring before it starts.
