Anyone here incredibly tired -- to the extent where they are barely able to function? I am nearing the end of my first semester of nursing school (I am in a 14-month accelerated BSN program); I have final exams next week. However, for the last 3 weeks I have been so incredibly tired where I can barely get myself out of bed. When I get home after classes/clinicals/work I have to literally force myself to get up to cook dinner, clean the house, crack open my notes to study... Anyone else this tired? I started wondering the other day if I am anemic or low on iron or something.

When I head to bed at night (I go to bed around 10:00 p.m. every night of the week), I am sleeping within minutes. I am usually tossing and turning for at least 30 or 40 minutes, but not lately.

So is anyone else this tired or is it just me??

I can relate to this.. I've been off for the summer, but during the school year (I'm going into semester 3 of 4 of an ADN program) I'm wiped out.. especially as finals near. I have 3 kids and we end up eating ALOT of convenience food, and the house gets messier and messier as the semester goes on. I've learned to just let it go. When I feel tired like that I try to catch myself up on as much work as I can and then take a day and just sleep or lay around or whatever... just rest. Will you get a break after finals? You need to try to find time for you.. just one day a week (or even a half day when its really crazy) to do something completely unrelated to nursing, job etc.. just something relaxing and fun.

I am so tired right now but only because I slept like 6 hours last night. Thinking about NS starting this Monday makes me even more tired just knowing all the work that is involved. Like they say "No pain no gain"

Yes. It is my finals week and I got 4 hours of sleep last night, will probably get about the same tonight. Right now is my first (and only) break this evening .... It sucks.

No-one told me that i'd look 75 by the time i graduated - i'm only 26!

even oil of olay can't help me now i'm a stereotypical haggard nurse now and i spend more time with my colleagues than my husband!

I think he's nearly forgotton what i look like!

The only consolation when you qualify is that instead of the 3 jobs i had to pay for the bills (as the bursary didn't cover much!) i only have the one - saying that at the moment i'd rather be a student again!:o

I hear ya. I finished my summer finals on Wednesday and had grand plans to go out with friends in the evening. I wound up falling asleep at 6:00 for an hour or two, then went back to sleep at 10. Two days later, I still feel like I got run over by a truck. :( Luckily I am off until September 4th so I am hoping to get some energy back by then. And then I just have to make it to November when I graduate! :)

I'm not currently feeling that way, but I know the feeling all too well. It helps to get a break in--when is your next one? Can you eliminate any "fluff" from your schedule and get some extra rest? I had to cut out wierd stuff like grocery shopping (sad, huh) and fun time w/ DH watching movies (really sad!) but it got me through last semester (and I hated eating out by the end!).

Remember this is just a season in your life--this too will pass, right? Hope you get some rest!!!!
