Woah. Today I logged into blackboard and was able to print out the syllabus, the schedule, and the powerpoints for one of my nursing classes... Oh my word! The syllabus itself was 42 pages long! We have a ton of assignments due on the 30th, as well as our first exam. We start classes the 15th. I knew it was going to be a lot of work but I'm getting anxious and nervous! Passing is 74% +. This is just health assessment class! I am so glad she listed all of the assignments and due dates for us. I've already began reading and note taking, so that's a plus!

I'm ready for the rest of our stuff to be posted so I can see what else I have lined up. Our uniforms were listed in the syllabus I have now. And the other must know clinical stuff.

I have basic statistics this semester-- 8 weeks long, plus us history II-- 8 weeks long, all with the nursing classes. I'm so scared of the statistics class! I have two little ones and I am starting to get overwhelmed. I'm scared I'm

Not going to be able to do it all and maintain my grades.

Classes for fall semester:

Basic nursing practicum 1

Health assessment practicum

Hospital measurements

Basic statistics

Us history II

*deep breath* nursing school begins!

Awww you'll be fine! Statistics is super easya dn when you're taking it, if you have any questions or are struggling pm me. Statistics was one of those classes that really came easy to me and I even tutored my classmates. I will also add I had a good teacher for it. The syllabus stuff is the norm, at least at my school. They're like books themselves but by next semester it wil get easier and more normal, I forgot what it felt like taht first semester until I just read your post, hahhahaha.

Also a little advice would be don't get behind, don't look too far ahead and have a positive attitude and you'll be just fine:)

congrats on starting, I dont start until the end of august .....i'm excited and nervous at the same time!

in regards to stats, I know how you feel. I waited until the completion of all other classes before I took stats because I knew it was going to suck. I just finished that class this summer....it was not easy but it wasnt nearly as bad as i thought it would have been. I am attaching a link that has a ton of excel templates that were super helpful when it came to homework. my prof also allowed us to use them during exams which was great.

also you can download megastat for excel for free...it has just about every formula you would need.

Iluvpatho, thanks! Ill keep you in mind! I got the rest of my books today, and oh my word the fundamental text is HUGE!! I always like to keep ahead. I've already read the first 4 chapters and made notes of my clinical nursing skills and techniques book, I just read the first two chapters of Jarvis physical exam and health assessment, made notes on it, and did the first two assignments. Hopefully I won't have a hard time with it all.

Thats smart! You should have agood time and sound liek you're off to a good start and that Jarvis book is a good one :)

Good luck!!! You can do this, look how hard you've worked to get to where you are now. I have Pharmacology and Nursing Process for this semester (my first), wich will be 10 semester hours. I've added a Math for Nurses course to help along the way and make my schedule full time. I panicked when I saw that my instructors had posted assignments and lessons, but as with everything else -we'll get better as we familiarize ourselves. Are you ready??? LETS GO!!!!

Congratulations! I graduated with my BSN in June 2011. I was a traditional college age student with no dependents when I began college. By the beginning of my junior year, I was working two to three jobs plus was the primary caretaker for my grandmother in hospice care with terminal colon cancer. My point is to encourage you, you can do it. Many of my classmates were second degree or nontraditional college students and they had full time jobs and/or kids to raise. It is possible but I'd be lying if I said they felt it was easy (I don't know that you'll find anyone who admits to nursing school being easy).

If there is one thing I can tell you that will certainly apply to you, this journey will be all about budgeting your time and planning ahead. :) My first syllabus for my assessment/fundamentals class was 74 pages long... They didn't post that syllabus on Blackboard, they printed and passed it out in our first class meeting.
