I know it is entirely too early but I wanted to get a thread going for all of you who are planning to apply for the NSP this upcoming year. I know it is becoming more and more popular and there are always questions and people wanting to share experiences and such so I hope this thread will become helpful! I have signed up to get the alert for when the application is available for the 2013-2014 FY and hope to meet others who will be applying as well.

Hey do you have any advice on getting accepted for the scholarship?

Well written essays, good letters of recommendations and if you can, volunteer work in the healthcare field wound certainly give your application a boost.

Hello,

I recently was accepted into CRNA school, and I'm planning on applying for the NURSE CORPS scholarship for 2014-2015 school year. I am currently a MSICU nurse who specializes in the care of immediate post-op, open-heart, cardiac surgery patients. I was wondering if any other CRNAs or SRNAs had any luck when applying for this scholarship? Any advice on a typical CRNA recipient? I've read through the entire packet of info from last year, and I understand that most funding will be awarded to those going to get their RN or NP, but I figured it's worth a shot. Do SRNA students ever receive any of the awards? I have loads of charity and service work that I've done throughout my life, and I am totally dedicated to the mission of HRSA. I was wondering what sorts of things I need to highlight and focus on in my application to make it really stand out? I actually work part time at a Tier I HRSA facility, and put that on my CV. My full-time hospital was also just bought out, but was a public hospital for the first year of my employment, which I also noted in my CV. I've emphasized the care of many different socioeconomic and cultural groups in my CV as well.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, everyone! Could anyone who received the scholarship last year (NHSC or Nurse Corps) provide me with some feedback on how long it takes to receive the award once your application status changes from "Under Final Review" to participant? I'm just trying to gauge how long it'll take for our tuition to be paid once we're officially a participant. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! :)

How long did it take you to go from under final review to participant?

My status has not yet changed to participant.

to those who know more about this scholarship, mainly for loan repayment, I just checking on this the search for eligible facilities link Find Shortage Areas: HPSA by State & County and having a problem. Many searches for my state I can see mainly Health Centers listed but the public hospitals are not listed. Some searches just have low-income, county name an ID number, then designated, but does not have the facility's name. What am I suppose to be looking for in a search? Then once you search and apply how they they know you will be guaranteed a job at your chosen facility?

Same for me too, so how did this ever pan out for you to find out what their codes listed match up with the hospital names? ~ Thank you ~

Hey guys. I am at an accelerated BSN/NP program in Maryland. I was offered the scholarship on Thursday. Undergrad GPA 3.4, GPA for nursing school pre-requisites 4.0. EFC 0. Good luck to everyone!

Congrats!!

This thread is super old...on the off chance that you do see this message, would you mind telling me how you applied for the scholarship as a BSN/NP student? I'm going for a BSN/CNM/WHNP (hopefully an FNP - we'll see) and the Nurse Corps customer service agent that I spoke to on the phone said I should probably apply for the scholarship as a graduate student so that they cover all of my tuition for both degrees (ie so the scholarship doesn't end when I get my BSN). Is that how you did it?
