Nurses General Nursing

hi everyone. I am a nursing student graduating in may 05 and i am super stoked. so here is a little background on my situation. When i first entered college i was advised by my mom to major in nursing so i did. Then during my sophomore year i decided to also pursue the pre med route and it turns out that i actually took all the pre req's and excelled in them. I applied to medical school last year after taking my mcats and actually got into the university of conneticut. i am scheduled to begin med school in aug 05. I would like to know whether hospitals offer tuition reimbursement for med schools if u work partime? Or should i defer until aug 05 and work as an rn fulltime so that iam eligible for tuition reimbursement? please advice any suggestions will be considered.

Congratulations on getting into med school. I would first find out if a hospital would pay for med school. Most TR plans are limited and tuition for med school can get pretty pricey. Definitely look into loans and grants also.

Good luck!

Congratulations. Tuition reimbursement is, as mentioned above, limited. My facility limits it to $2200/year. It also limits it to majors that are pertinent to one's job. It can be argued that med school is pertinent to a nurses job, but it can also reasonably be denied. Nonetheless good luck in med school! Congrats!

thanks guys i guess ill just start in aug 05 and suck up the costs like other med students. I was thinking of working part time as an r.n since im taking the nclex in june but ive been told its almost impossible to work while in med school. thanks anyway. its a shame ill never be able to use my bsn but on a positive note i will always have it as a back up plan just in case med school does not work out. hopefully that wont be the case.
