Working shift work with children

Nurses General Nursing

Hi, I have moved cities and now don't have family to help with childcare (have worked shift work for ywars) my partner often has to go away at short notice, and in between he works shift work. Up until now I have been working casual shifts but I need something permanant. I really don't want to leave hospital nursing but am stumped about how to sort out childcare. I have one in school and one in daycare. I really want my older child to be able to continue after school activities.

Thanks

If you figure something out let me know because I haven't been able to find an answer that didn't involve family. No one wants to babysit for 13 or more hours and if you work 2 12 hours back to back you have to sleep sometime. Even if you can get dayshift and your kids are in school what do you do when you have to work weekends or in the summer.

It's so hard ! I have considered a nanny but I would be paying them pretty close to what I earn. no room for an au pair....
