Visascreen before NCLEX ?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi Guys,

I,ve already completed & posted off my CES application with the intention of registering with the Florida Board of Nursing and sitting my NCLEX there,

So can I now complete and post off my Visascreen Application before taking the Nclex exam in Florida,or do I have to wait until after I eventually hopefully pass, before completing and submitting my Visascreen Application ?

Obviously I,m trying to get everything in place as quickly as possible so as to reduce the processing time, but am not to sure about the correct sequence of events I should apply to the Application process.

Thanks in advance from frosty England

Sue,

I used my Maryland license for Visascreen which is where I originally started from. I then have endorsed it to Florida, which won't issue my permanent license until I have a SSN- I didn't bother mentioning that one at all to Visascreen, although they ask for current ( Australia in my case) and place of USA license (Maryland), which so far they have accepted.

Did you only register with Florida?

Wendy

If all of you will take a moment and go back to the form that you submitted, or look it up on the computer, item 13 asks for information regarding where you were initially licensed andevery other license whether current or not. It asks for states where you are currently licensed, if you are. If you have not actually been given a number because of SSN,then you do not yet have a license in that state. This means the licenses that you have had in other countries if you are just applying for Visa Screen to work in the US for the first time. This does not mean that you list Florida if that is where you will be eventually going. You do not have a physical license for there at this time.

Please read closely as to what the application is asking for and only give that information. Passing NCLEX does not automatically give you a license, and until you are assigned a number, you do not have a license in that state.

Sorry I don't think you read my message clearly, I gave my Maryland license number and did not mention Florida in section e and gave Australia as the reply for section d for question 13.

Interesting thought came to mind.................Did you list Florida as one of your licenses? You do not have a Florida license until you actually have it in hand...........................this is where you probably brought on the trouble by yourself when completing the paperwork. The question asks for where you are currently licensed.........for you that would be the UK.................

Let this serve as a wake-up call to all of you: If you are filling out paperwork for Visa Screen and/or CGFNS exam, unless you have a US license in hand with an actual number, do not list it.................they are concerned with your "previous life" before you go to the US, not after.

Sue, I would suggest that you follow up with CGFNS directly with a phone call or you may be waiting months.....................

Keep us posted.

I can see where the problem lies...I feel so stupid now. It doesnt really make it clear on the form or maybe I am being naive. I thought as I had passed my NCLEX that event hough I dont have the LIcense in my hand,,,that I would still have to put it down - obviously not...not having a very good couple of weeks...LOL

Sue,

Don't get upset. Many people make the same mistake and others think that they have to wait until they get a US license to send that in, not taking into consideration that this is a screen before you get your US license or are allowed to work in the US. It does say where you are currently licensed, NCLEX exam is not a license to practice.

But at least I hope that I was able to get things cleared up for you.
