Hi Guys,
I,ve already completed & posted off my CES application with the intention of registering with the Florida Board of Nursing and sitting my NCLEX there,
So can I now complete and post off my Visascreen Application before taking the Nclex exam in Florida,or do I have to wait until after I eventually hopefully pass, before completing and submitting my Visascreen Application ?
Obviously I,m trying to get everything in place as quickly as possible so as to reduce the processing time, but am not to sure about the correct sequence of events I should apply to the Application process.
Thanks in advance from frosty England

I'm pretty sure I got mine after I passed, but it was my agency that applied for it on my behalf.

I would immediately get the Visa Screen process started, as this will be your longest hold-up. You do not have to wait until you take CGFNS or NCLEX to submit the paperwork. Remember that beginning this July, all healthcare personnel are going to have to go through the process, so things will dragged out even longer due to the increase in volume. The US Embassy can not do anything to process your application until you have the Visa Screen certificate. Your score from NCLEX will be forwarded to ICHP (part of CGFNS) to complete the Visa Screen. Also highly recommend that you send any documents by courier service and not the mail system to guarantee that they actually arrive there, and in a timely manner. Definitely worth the extra expense. Also make sure that your transcripts are in sealed envelopes form your nursing college or they won't be accepted. Same thing with verification from your licensing board.
Good luck.

When I first saw your post I thought you were talking about VIVISECTION,as in live disection of a creature, as a requirement for the NCLEX. Boy was I upset! :imbar

Hi Suzanne,
Have i got this correct - my passing score from the NCLEX will be forwarded to CGFNS? From the CGFNS web-site - all I am waiting for is the proof of my passing the NCLEX and need the Florida BON to contact them again as this is what I had quoted on the CGFNS web-site re:license...
"Your license has been received and rejected for the following reasons: We do not have a registration/license number. We do not have a date originally issued. Your agency did not provide the expiration date of license/registration and it states it was not a lifetime practice license."
I Know I wont get my License until I get my SSN and I cant get that until I am in the USA,,I dnt suppose there is anyway of speeding things up???LOL
What CGFNS is stating is not related to your Florida license but wherever you are currently licensed now......You need to have the form filled in and stamped by the nursing council or board of nursing wherever you are living and working now........................also a copy of the license, and translation if needed, submitted with the form........................It also needs to be sent directly by the foreign licensing board. Hope this clears things up for you.
CGFNS/ Visa Screen needs to verify your previous license not your US license.
Hope that this helps......................good luck................ :balloons:

Hi Suzanne
I have just completed visa screening online and have already completed CES. Sue has also completed CES, wouldn't the license validation for CES count for visa screening?
Anna
The same license verification can be used but with what she posted, that is the reply that CGFNS uses when they haven't received the verification and copy of license from the issuing country. The screening process for Visa Screen is just that, it is concerned with your license and working as a nurse in your former country, not anything to do with where you will be licensed in the future. Only pertains to what already exists........................

Actually it is for the fLORIDA License not my UK one -my UK one has been verfied and accepted - the qoute I gave you was for the Florida License which obviously I cant get until I get SSN....I have contacted Florida BON but no reply as yet...I cant understand it myself. It also says waiting for NCLEX results too...I passed that in Feb. Florida board of nursing contacted me about a fortnight ago and said they had sent my License details to CGFNS...

CGFNS takes approx 20 working days to put your registration details into the system- how is that for efficiency! They told me that when I called them, after being put on hold and transferred from person to person for 45 minutes, never mind the fact I am calling from Australia!
Again, if you look closely, it is related to your UK license. It may be missing a date or something. CGFNS is NOT interested in your US license. They are only doing an evaluation of your existing licenses to see if you qualify for a visa to work in the US. Please check with them and you will find out that it is with your other license. I have seen this happen many times before..........
When yuo filled out the Visa Screen paperwork, did you say that you had a Florida license? You actually don't until it is issued and in your hands. This also may be where you are running into a problem. but I would contact CGFNS by phone and as quickly as possible. Otherwise you may be waiting months.....for nothing.............................Good luck.............

Interesting thought came to mind.................Did you list Florida as one of your licenses? You do not have a Florida license until you actually have it in hand...........................this is where you probably brought on the trouble by yourself when completing the paperwork. The question asks for where you are currently licensed.........for you that would be the UK.................
Let this serve as a wake-up call to all of you: If you are filling out paperwork for Visa Screen and/or CGFNS exam, unless you have a US license in hand with an actual number, do not list it.................they are concerned with your "previous life" before you go to the US, not after.
Sue, I would suggest that you follow up with CGFNS directly with a phone call or you may be waiting months.....................
Keep us posted.
