How to deal with poop as a new nurse.

Often times, new nurses seem to have issues getting over the "poop" aspect of nursing. We've all been there. Here are some (funny) tips on how I got over it. I hope you enjoy!

Funny :) My favorite (REAL) way to deal with poop is peppermint oil in a face mask. My eyes water a bit, but I don't smell a thing that is not peppermint.

Haha when I first started as a CNA I had a hard time with the smell but now it doesn't bother me at all!

Why didn't I think of doing that?

I have the sense of humor of an 8 year old boy, so it was lucky when I actually had an 8 year old boy who (along with his friends) also wanted to hear "The biggest poops I've ever seen as a nurse" stories. Luckily, at 22 years old he's never outgrown that type of sophomoric type humor - and neither have I. :)

Shaving cream on a towel under a bed helps too, especially in a room with a pt with a GI bleed whom is incontinent.

Heh, I've gotcha beat. :x3: I can't smell any kind of poop. My smeller doesn't work right due to pulmonary disease.
