I have been told by my agency that I am going to be offered a job in Texas tomorrow, but I am going to turn it down. It's an ICU job and it sounds really good, but my partner is in Connecticut and as we have just renewed the lease on our apartment, can't relocate at the moment. I am coming from England, and this job would have meant I would have finally got my green card after waiting over 2 years for it. I feel kind of sad at having to turn it down, but we've lived apart for nearly 3 years and the contract is for nearly 2 years, making the time apart nearly 5 years. That's just not an option. Commuting from Texas on a regular basis would just be so impractical, not to mention expensive. We've thought through all our choices and unless they can offer me a shorter contract there is no way I am going to Texas. I feel totally frustrated at the moment and just wanted to share. Hope you don't mind.

I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately this time of year, the southern states are gearing up for their winter staff. Places like Texas, Arizona and Florida are hiring contracts.
Keep looking, waiting and hoping. Something will come up. I know it!
Thanks Tweety. I know you're right...that's why I am turning it down. I know there will be something sooner or later but after waiting so long it's so disappointing. I can't help but think I could have had my green card and all the waiting would have been over. It's not good taking something I don't want though. No need to be unhappy.
