I started my "career" as a Candy Striper in 1968 at the age of 13.

Worked as a Nurse's Aide while in nursing school and graduated with a BSN in 1977.

Worked Med Surg for 3 yrs 1977 - 1980; QUit work to have babies! Taught Childbirth Classes for a few years while kids were small 1982 - 1985; worked in "float" pool 1985 - 1986; worked in Nursery 10 yrs 1986 - 1996; then to Quality Management / Performance Improvement since then!

Specializes in Med-surg; OB/Well baby; pulmonology; RTS.

as a nurse, what type did you start as: lvn, adn or bsn? i have always wanted to be a nurse since i was about 5 yrs old. when i was a sophmore in high school, i was a candy striper at the local hospital. i now have my adn.

what are you doing now? i work part time on a pulmonary/med-surg unit

any future schooling or other changes expected for the future?i do plan to go back to school sometime to obtain my bsn and then probably a msn. i am wanting to obtain some sort of certification where i can do grief counseling. i haven't ever become acls certified...thinking of doing that sometime as well.
