Studen Loan Forgiveness

My understanding was it had to be a true not-for-profit org, and it's so severly understaffed it's made it to some "list." Typically they are ONLY clinics that serve uninsured or the homeless. There was a site..let me find it.

My hospital which is large not-for-profit has loan repayment of $4800/year and tuition assistance of $1800/year.

at selected institutions, but not STAFFORD loans (for nurses at least they are for teachers at certain schools). I suggest contacting the Dept of Education or someone higher up in the financial assistence dept. at the school you attended.

My daughter is working at an Indian health Hospital, and they are repaying her student loans.....think it`s something like 20% or 30% a year.....When I went to nursing school 15 years ago N.M. had it`s own nursing loan program that was forgiven as long as I worked in a needs area at the rate of 20% per year...I did my 5 years and didn`t have to pay back a dime....even got a bumper sticker that said "I Paid Off My Sudent loan"

The Federal Government has a program that will pay back 80% of your loan in exchange for a 3-year committment. The list of eligible hospitals has expanded tremedously over the last couple of years as the program's funding has increased dramatically.

My hospital has no loan repayment program, but is considering starting one. I would be very interested in hearing what other hospitals are offering, if anyone would be willing to share that information with me.

Also, what is the maximum on tuition reimbursement programs? My hospital gives only $1000 / year for full time employees, $500 per year to part time employees.

My school has a loan forgiveness program. If you enroll at the school, then go to work for the hospital they are affiliated with, your loan is cancelled at the rate of $250/month for full-time employment, $125/month for part-time employment. They repay all types of student loans that you have received since being admitted to the program.

i've been doing some research into these loan forgiveness programs, too. seems that there is a wide variety, both state and federal. you must work at a designated site, but these locations vary from rural clinics, public health centers, inner city hospitals, county hospitals, to indian reservation health centers. i've found. some programs will pay up to 100% of your nursing loans if you work for up to three years for them. here's a website with more information and listings of programs....good luck, i hope this is helpful!!!

The for-profit hospital I am considering is doing this also. It's like $1000/6m. I'm not sure what the others are paying.
