staff edu in comm health center

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi to all,

Recently joined group. Seems like a good place for advice and support. Work at community health center and want to develop education component for ongoing inservices rt staff education. Suggestions on how to coordinate this, resources to use for education tools?? We have both MA's RN's on staff. Trying to get docs to inservice topics of interest, sometimes time gets away since we are usually so busy. Any other suggestions?

Ideas welcome!

Thanks

I found that knowing what community resources are out there was helpful so sometimes I would have outsiders in to tell us what services they offer. I also would call DME people to have them tell us about their latest products such as wound care so everyone knows what is out there. I also wrote many programs for the staff.

check with your state board of nurses to see what issues are hot right now, which contact hours are required (Tx requires Hep A) and any legal/nurse stuff that is relevant. Also, ANA chapter in your area may have speaker or ideas. Don't forget the educators at local colleges. They have tools and references. What about FEMLA for emergency requirements

First, see what topics interest the prospective students. What is it they would like to know more about? Then f/u with some of the above suggestions.
