Which schedule would use choose?

I am new to this site and it's great so far..LOVE all the advice..so I'm going to ask..

2 12 hour days/week where you drive an hour each way and are able to basically choose the days you work and can pick up more time if desired with shifts starting at 6:45 a.m. or the afternoon at 2:45 p.m.

4 10 hour days where you drive 35-40 min and work 2 Saturdays/month with shifts starting at 6 a.m.

OR M-F basically 8:30-5,drive about 30 min, no weekends though some travel up to 80 miles one way and occasional over night stay required.

None of the above require call or holidays.

The first one pays about $30/hr

The second one about $32

The third on $27

The first one is hospital based, the other 2 are clinic based.......

All adult care. I am not concerned about the type of floor or clinic...just don't know what schedule is best..childcare is not a concern.

#2 for me. I'd love to do outpatient work.

Which one would I choose? I would choose the 3rd job, in fact, that pretty much describes the job I have, because it fits best with my child's school schedule.

Which one should you choose? It really depends on things that are specific to you. The first job pays about half as much (between the lower pay rate and the smaller number of hours per week) as the second. If maximizing your pay is your goal, choose job 2. If having more time off appeals to you and you can afford to make less money, choose job 1. Since you say that child care is not a consideration for you, there's probably no reason for you to choose job 3.

One thing you didn't mention though is if they all offer benefits, or if you need benefits (or maybe already get them through a spouse). Obviously, that's another factor for you to consider.

Congratulations on having so many options, and good luck with your decision!

The first for SURE!!!! When I saw the first option compared to the others I thought to myself you had to already know this is the best option and the $ is still good!!! Oh heck yeah!

I vote #2. #1 isnt worth the hassle and #3 pays the least.

You guys rock! Thanks for the feedback! I do consider myself extremely lucky to be offered each of these. I wasn't expecting this by any means.

I would choose the first option due to the flexibility of choosing days to work, etc, and because I could visit my out of state family on days off (whereas I would not be able to do that with the 3rd option). But, I guess it's whatever works best for you! Would you rather have the flexibility of choosing shifts? Or never have to work a weekend and have a set day schedule?

Nice problem to have, though! Good luck in your decision! :)

Sorry...posted my response here by accident..don't know how to delete...but I would also go w/#1..

Personally, I would go with option 3.

However, I am a single parent of two young children and I need the predictablity of the M-F 8:30-5. I did my time in the ER and PICU and I am so much happier in the clinic setting. That's not to say that I won't ever go back to 12 hour shifts in the hospital, but if I do, it won't be any time soon.

With that said, IMO it's not worth an extra $3/hr to drive an hour to and from work. Ugh. Based on that alone, I would chose the second or third option.
