RN certification

  1. I am interested in pursuing a certification in nursing. I work on a tele and step-down unit and would like to know exactly how to go about getting some sort of specialty certification. Like who do I contact for testing, hours required, specialties available to be certified in. I called the BRN and they don't know. Help!

Are you a AD or BSN nurse,it will make a difference because as of 2000 an AD RN cant specialize, however that doesn't mean you cant get certificates in certain areas, for example I wanted certification in Emergency Nursing, and Im an AD RN so I contacted the ANA and they informed me to contact the Board of Emergency Nursing and as a result I found out that I was eligible to test, also the ANA offers certification in some areas so contact them with you request.
