Question-New graduate & Out of State- California License

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi

I would appreciate it anyone would share their experiences with getting their California License as an out of state new graduate.

I will graduate on December 13th. I plan to take the NCLEX in the first week of January in Kentucky. I plan on working in California, the job I would like to take possibly would start in late Feb. Would I be able to obtain my license in time?

If you were out of state and moved to California for a nursing job as a new graduate. What steps did you take to obtain your license? Also, if the process was slow for you, looking back was there anything you could have done to make the process move along easier and faster?

Thank you and best of luck to everyone :)

I have a classmate that says it took a year to obtain her California license (she was already licensed in another state). If time is of the essence, why not take your NCLEX *in* California? I can't imagine there would be a faster way to obtain a license there, and they are notoriously slow at issuing licenses by reciprocity.
