PSNA Collecting Names for Nurse Volunteer Registry

PSNA is closely working with the PA Department of Health's Command Center under the supervision of Governor Ridge to develop a registry of nurses who would like to volunteer to assist in rescue and medical efforts in New York. If assistance from PA

nurses is needed, those who have asked to be added to the volunteer registry will be contacted directly by the PA Department of Health.

Currently, PSNA's phone lines are overwhelmed with calls from nurses all across PA and neighboring states who are offering their assistance if needed. We encourage those who would like to be placed on the registry to contact PSNA via email at:

[email protected].

Please e-mail PSNA the following information:

Name of Volunteer

State(s) in which you hold your nursing license

Address

Phone Number

Specialty Area of Practice

Availability (Dates)

PSNA thanks you for your dedication and spirit of caring!

PSNA Office Overloaded with Calls

The PSNA office is currently overloaded with calls from nurse volunteers. PSNA is also seeking members/nonmembers in the area to assist PSNA with data collection from those who have called, organization of calls and emails received, and to possibly

assist with answering of phone and/or pulling off of voice mail messages.

If you would like to help, please e-mail PSNA at [email protected]. Please do not call the office, you will most likely only get a busy signal or will be unable to access any staff voice mail directories. Thank you!

I wish I could do something, but I am only a student. But I am offering prayers and anything else I may be able to do!?!?

Generous Offers Flood Volunteer Registry Centers, No Additional Names Will Be Taken

The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association and volunteer registry call centers throughout the state have been flooded with calls and emails from medical personnel who have generously offered their assistance in New York or Washington. At this time, PSNA

has been instructed by the PA Department of Health that no additional names are needed for the volunteer registry. There are well over 6,000 names currently on the registry. PSNA has received over 250 emails and over 350 phone calls and voice mail

messages from nurses willing to help in any way possible. New York and Washington have not yet needed additional medical personnel, if additional personnel are needed in the future the PA Department of Health will begin to contact those on the list. If

you are needed, you will be contacted directly by the PA Department of Health.

PSNA thanks all of the nurses who contacted our office, your dedication to the profession, spirit of caring and willingness to help in any way needed are a wonderful inspiration amongst all of the tragedy this week. Thank you!

I'm registered as well as several of my co-workers in the ER. We will do anything we can to help!
