Hi all, I just intereviewed for a possible transfer to an endoscopy unit. I have been asked to do a share day next week. In all my years of nursing I've never been requested to do a share day prior to being hired. What is the proper etiquette for an experienced nurse during a share day on the unit. Should I just observe and ask questions about how things are done, or should I be an active participant in the patient's care? Thanks for your help everyone.

Are you there to learn or do you already know how to care for patients pre/post-endoscopy? My suggestion would be to not practice outside your level of skills and abilities. So, if you do not know how to care for an endoscopy patient--don't--observe instead, asking questions appropriately, observing, etc.
