Does anyone know anything about this condition? I've been having ankle pain over the past month that has progressed to where it feels like someone is stabbing it with a red-hot icepick  I had it a few years ago too (same ankle) and my MD said he couldn't find anything wrong with it, although he couldn't rule out a stress fx. I wore a removeable cast for a couple of weeks and was OK after that, never thought about it again until it started acting up about 3 weeks ago.

Yesterday I went to a podiatrist, who X-rayed the ankle again and told me he thinks I've got an old injury that never healed right, and now a collapsed arch. There's also an accessory navicular bone that may have caused a microscopic tear in the tendon (OW). We won't know for sure until I have an MRI, which will be done if I'm still hurting in a week or two.

So here I am, in the walking cast 24/7 for the next 30 days, and probably looking at surgery.......what I need to know is, does anyone here have experience with this sort of thing, what was actually done, and how long did it take until you were able to work again? (That's my biggest concern right now....I can't afford to be off work for more than a couple of weeks, and my foot doc says I'd have to be in an actual cast for at least four to six.) How did you deal with pain issues if you did NOT have surgery?

Any words of wisdom would be truly appreciated. THANX!

I wish I had the answer to your question. Ive been having trouble too and hoping it will go away. I was trying to be more active with walking. I had bought new tennis shoes. I woke up and both heals hurt real bad when I got out of bed. One has gone away but the other persists. It hurts in the middle third of my foot and is stiff upward into my ankel. I was wondering if I had a fallen arch too. (still hoping it will go away)
