Hello all, I am new to the board. I will be graduating in May06 from ADN RN program. I recently found out I am pregnant with my second child. I was using birth control...not planned. But heres the deal. I am due Aug 1. I am happily married to a wonderful man. I am scared because I wanted to start working right out of school, now I am trying to figure out what to do. I am afraid if I wait until after the baby comes I will loose things I have learned from school. I don't know what to do and if I could work before baby who knows how I am going to be feeling that late in pregnancy. If anyone has any advice please let me know.

Sounds like it's one of those wait and see situations, for you.

When do you take your boards...do you know yet?

You could work a couple of months, because you will have to stay off after the baby's born, won't you, for a few weeks?

If you decide not to work, until baby's born and you take your boards, then just take that time and study.

I don't think you will lose any skills or knowledge.......not if you study.

If I were in the same situation, I'd take my boards asap, relax & postpone plans to work and focus on the baby instead. I think most employers would certainly understand your change of plans. I think you'll be just fine retaining what you learned because most learning is yet to come, on the job . Congratulations on your surprise pregnancy! Trust that God knows what he's doing in your life :icon_hug:

Congratulations. I know even though this isn't the timing you were planning, this baby will be a blessed addition to your family. If it were me, I'd probably go ahead and take my boards and then wait to start working. You'll be able to take a refresher course, and your skills will come back to you. You know what they say, if we waited till the time was perfect to have babies, none would be born.

Thank you guys so much !! You are already making me feel better. I guess I have just worked so hard in nursing school and had already made big plans and got a little worked up when things didn't go as planned. We are happy about the baby and I agree GOD truly knows what he is doing and everything will work out. And sorry about my spelling earlier. lose not loose. Anyway, thanks for posting.
