Hi everyone ,

im pregnant and I was having my blood drawn today. The nurse dropped her gloves on the floor and then proceeded to pick them up and put them on. Then she touched the site of my needle prick and then took my blood . I am very nervous about this whole situation and would like to know if there is any risk for hiv or anything else. Thank you

I think you should (should have) addressed your concerns in the doctor's office. Ideally at the time, but it's not too late. Call the office and ask to speak to the Office Manager and convey your concerns. Keep in mind that the "nurse" might not have been a nurse at all.

We are not really in a position to give advice on any potential risks stemming from your incident.

Welcome to Allnurses.com!

First of all, we hope that everything goes well with your pregnancy. Secondly, the site's terms of service prohibits the membership from providing medical advice. For that, you will need to ask your physician and/or provider these questions.

Finally, not that it matters, but the person drawing your blood may not have been a licensed nurse (RN or LPN). Most of the people who perform blood withdrawal in this day and age are either phlebotomists or medical assistants.

Again, congratulations on the pregnancy.
