Forwarded to me via Florence Project listserve. Any groups/providers in this area to assist patients. PULSE is a legit patient advocacy group--see website. Karen
Need a nurse advocate in the DC area who may be able to assist someone with their office visits as a "buddy" or an advocate. She is s sickly 50 year old woman who doesn't have family or friends and wants a nurse to help her with questions at her doctors office visit. Any ideas?

You know, I always thought this would be a good idea. I've always said everyone should have at least one nurse in the family to look out for them and explain things.
But, the organization name PULSE somehow makes me wary--like they're looking for someone to accuse the medical/nursing staff when things are not going right... "Limiting Substandards and Errors " If they want someone to explain things and ask questions, I think that's great. If they're looking for someone to harass the staff and give them the potential for making accusations, then I'm obviously extraordinarily opposed.
