Nominated for Daisy Award :)

Yesterday at work, I checked my mail box and found a large envelope. I opened it and to my complete surprise, I found that I was nominated by a recent patient for the Daisy Award!

I am a new grad and have only been an RN since February on the medical unit at my hospital.

I showed the letter to my NM and she said that I should be very proud to be nominated so early in my career.

I guess "proud" wouldn't be the right word for how I feel though. I am very humbled and it actually brought tears to my eyes when I read the nice things that the patient had written about me. It makes my heart happy to know that I made a difference in someone's life. After all, isn't that what nursing is all about?

Being a Daisy nominee just encourages me to strive to do my best every day to be a great patient advocate. :)

Just had to share my little "feel good moment."

I also wanted to say how much I love AN. I've learned so much from so many people on this site!

WOW!!! Congrats Julz!!! :)

I've kept all the nice notes I've ever gotten for my care. It *is* a good feeling.

It's true you can get sour grapes from other nurses. I remember when one particular doc and I set the record for quickest door to balloon time for a STEMI. The nurse educator made a poster board about it and posted it in the break room. I never got any recognition from my co-workers, only "Well, why didn't *I* get a poster board when I did X, Y, or Z?". The nurse educator never posted another poster board after that.

Enjoy your recognition! I am sure it is well deserved.

Good for you! What a great confidence builder for a new nurse. :)

I used to work in a small office within a hospital system and one of our awesome nurses who had gone above and beyond got nominated. Another of my co-workers decided she wanted to be nominated so she got onto the nominating committee somehow and actually nominated herself. We were all thrilled the day that the Daisy people showed up to give the totally unsuspecting, humble, and totally deserving nurse her award, and the look on our other co-worker's face who had nominated herself and didn't win was priceless.:roflmao:

:roflmao:!!!!

Self nomination...how cute. :sarcastic:....well, her "best intentions" gave her the best results. :cheeky:
