Nurses General Nursing

Specializes in Mental Health.

I have lurked here for a while, but seldom speak, and I would like some input. I have been a Registered Nurse since 1999, but have absolutely no experience, save for my clinical rotations. I did great in school and passed the NCLEX with ease. My question? I would like to get my feet wet, so to speak, and finally begin my nursing career. I have a great job now in Health Information Management in a Community Mental Health Center (salary, no weekends or holidays, etc..) - but I am not getting much in the way of personal satisfaction. Can anyone recommend an area for me?

I would start by looking at what I enjoyed most in school, and why I went into nursing in the first place. Both thes questions should yield good clues as to where to start. Aslo I would take some refresher CEs in the area that I hoped to be hired.

Good luck. Welcome back.
