  1. okay, i'm freaking out. I beggin my first class with UOP on May 16. RN to BSN - do credits transfer if you want to switch?
  2. We have a fairly large Amish population here in Northern Indiana - and most do pay in cash.
  3. First initial and last name - not very imaginative.
  4. I am the Privacy Officer at my facility (a Community Mental Health Center) and this is how we would handle something like this. Disclaimer - HIPAA is a very gray area and I would not make any move without consulting my HR Director or Center ATTY. 1. We will not guarantee any complainants anonymity. 2. There is always an investigation. 3. The alleged HIPAA violator is made aware of the complaint (and potentially told the name of the complainant - not always - depends on situation). 4. HIPAA does not say what your procedure for disciplinary action has to be, just that you need to have one and it needs to be consistent. 5. The FEDS can come in and look at your documentation at any time. 6. I do not actually do disciplinary action. I make recommendations based on precedent. The HR department usually takes my recommendation - and also takes into consideration the employees past disciplinary issues. I hope that helped a little bit. I know I was vague, but that is the nature of HIPAA. It will be that way until the FEDS come out with clearer guidelines. I believe it will work much like the ADA Laws did - and that clarity will only come with time and enough lawsuits.
  5. I guess I was thinking that the Agency, not the poser, looked up the address (not that makes much sense or seems very likely).
  6. There are directories on the internet where you can put in a persons name and find out what their email address is. Not always accurate or up to date, but I have used one a time or two. I'm not at home and I don't remember what the name of the site is.
  7. Associates in Health Information Technology.
  8. Thank you for the replies. It does make me feel better regarding the medication.
  9. How very timely. My SO was just placed on Lipitor on Friday. This was his first test. Doctor did not recommend trying diet, exercise and lifestryle changes first. That made me a bit uncomfortable. Is this the new thinking? His total was 276 - tri's high as well. Don't know family history as he is adopted.
  10. FYI - I am a Registered Health Information Technician as well as a nurse. The Federal Government regulates the costs of medical record copies and the regs state that they can only charge you .25 per page. They can also charge a pull fee of (I think) 10 - 15 dollers.
  11. It is also a factor in billing. If you are audited, and the service is not documented, you will pay the funds back.
  12. Older sibs (youngest of 6) told me that hot dogs were made from rats tails - don't like 'em to this day.
  13. Incident Reports are protected as Peer Review Documents and are not discoverable.
