New Grad Post Interview Question?

Just had an interview for a new graduate nurse residency program today. The recruiter told us that if we wanted to send post-interview thank-you notes to the interview team we would have to send them to her directly and she will pass them along to the people who interviewed us. So I sent her an email after my interview asking if she would pass along my thank-you note. I never heard back from her, and now it's the weekend. I've heard that you should send the thank-you note 24-48 hours after your interview. I am worried the recruiter didn't forward my email in time. Should I just send a thank-you email directly to the people who interviewed me even though the recruiter told us to send it to her first? I have never heard of this before, usually I've been told just to email the hiring managers directly for thank-you notes. I guess I could send a hand written thank-you although that might get there too late. Lastly does anyone think that thank-you notes actually help your chances of getting a job? Thanks!

I think you should wait out. Like you said, it is a weekend. Also, if the recruiter asked to send all thank-yous to her, I think there is a valid reason for that. Lastly, I do not necessarily think that thank-yous help you secure the job. They do, however, help the interview committee remember who you are.

@FutureNurseInfo, thank you. It's hard to wait it out because I'm not sure if my thank-you note will be forwarded in time; the hiring managers I interviewed with said they hoped to make decisions early next week. The recruiter said that they discourage applicants to approach hiring managers directly. I understand that, as I'm sure some applicants overdo it, and it is a large hospital. However my friend sent a thank-you email after his interview (he interviewed for a different floor) and the hiring managers replied asking if he wanted to tour the unit. So I feel like I might be missing out on an opportunity like that if I am being discouraged to email my thank-you note to the interview team.

I'm also wondering if I should email the recruiter again on Monday to make sure my email went through, although I know she's busy with hundreds of applicants. I just really want to convey my interest in this job. I interviewed in the middle of the day so I feel like I'll blend in with the other applicants.

Is it possible to give a call? You can thank you them that way.

I think that all contact with hiring managers is discouraged, unfortunately.

Long time lurker here... made an account to comment because I think we might have interviewed for the same hospital. I interviewed for a new grad program and was told not to approach the hiring manager(s).

In the past, I have sent thank you notes and not gotten the job, and have not sent thank you notes and gotten the job. I cannot say whether it helps or not. It almost seems like the standard these days. Good luck

BookWorm92, Did you send a thank-you?

I'm thinking I'll get in touch with the recruiter tomorrow. I've never been told not to send a thank-you to the hiring managers. I hope this doesn't affect my chances of getting this job. It is my dream job and I feel like I messed it up.
