Need Your Help

I just passed my boards in July, and I got hired at a nearby hospital. Now this is where I need your help (please), I start on Sept 11th, but on this Tuesday I have to take a 100 question medication/math test. The paper work I have received stated for me to know the side effects of the most common drugs. I was just wondering if maybe you could give me your professional opinion of what meds you believe to be common for a med/surg floor. Sure I can probably guess myself but I want to make sure I cover them all. Thank you in advanced. (I know weird question, I think I am just scared) Take Care

Demerol, Morphine, Lasix, all antibiotics, digoxin, B/P meds, insulins, Nitro, solumedrol, Inhalers. These are the drugs I use most on my med/surg floor.

I was provided a list of the top 100 drugs used by my hospital. I'll type out the ones most used on our floor (med/surg). As long as you know your classifications, like the above person stated with bronchodilators, bp meds, diuretics, antibiotics, anticoagulants, etc, you'll be just fine.

I doubt your test will be anything more than the essentials and I'm sure you'll do great!

Well DSMO: These ladies have done a fine job in listing all of the meds--I just wanted to wish you luck!! You will do just GREAT! Good luck!

It is probably a good idea to remeber the generic name first and then the brand name. There are many brand names for drugs and it can get confusing. If you ever plan to work outside the USA, you will need to know the generic names, as many of the brand names are different.
