The title of this thread made me chuckle. Easy nursing school... again I chuckle. If anyone finds this easy nursing school can you please ask them to offer an NP program that isn't going to have me going bald by 26.

I understand what the OP is actually asking for but wording is everything. You may find a cheaper school, or one with less pre-entrance testing, but you will never find an easy nursing school. As for the 1st semester completion rate you mentioned that's really not that uncommon. My first day of actual nursing school classes I was told to look in front of me, behind me, to my left and to my right and realize that by the end of the first semester chancea were only 2 of us would still be in the program.

I am in a BSN program at a state college. In state tuition is $5k/year. There was no entrance exam whatsoever. At my school, you need to complete the required prerequisites, have a good GPA (well over 3.0), and keep your fingers crossed that they accept you out of the hundreds of applications.

Once accepted, you take the TEAS so they can see if you'll need any extra help throughout the nursing curriculum. Seemed somewhat a$$ backward to me, but that's how they do it!

It's competitive to gain entry, but if you are looking to avoid entrance exams right away, my school could be an option.

Thank You...your one of the people that didnt discourage me... Stay Sweet!!:wink2:

It sounds like you (the OP) haven't taken any (major) prerequisite courses yet. (A&P, statistics, micro, chemistry, etc) Maybe you should meet with a counselor at the school you are attending or plan to attend for your prereqs. If you haven't taken them yet, you are putting the cart before the horse. Not to sound harsh, but if you don't do well in your prerequisite courses, you won't need to worry about picking a school because it is likely you won't get in anywhere (sorry!). It is hard enough for people who are great students to get in anywhere. I think that your best bet is to test the waters with your prereqs and see how you do. If you don't do so well you may want to consider other careers in the healthcare industry (there are a lot of options!). Good luck!

Thank You for your response... I took A&P 1 and 2 already and just took Chem this pass summer..but i dnt wanna go to my school anymore..it was Trinitas Nusring School..but i opted to consider another schhol. I did not take a Entrance Test( because of prior college courses) and there was No NLN.

I started out at a college that had to 'flunk' out so many students each semester because they didn't have enough teachers staffed to hold the students..... It was terrible!! They nit picked and found everything they could to dump you!!! That was 15 years ago. From what I hear they still do it. Anyway, I ended up going to a different college, even moved 100 miles just to go to this college. And the first thing the instructor said on the first day was.... "we're here to help you learn to become a nurse, NOT to fail you out!"... And she was telling the truth. I've been a nurse for 5+ years now.

Nursing schools are so different, you just have to find out from the former students which one is right for you.

Thank You its good to know that...

My LPN school was "college class oriented". We needed the exact same Micro, A&P 1-2 etc. as the RN program. I agree that it was a great start for my nursing career but found the classes in LPN school to be as difficult as in the RN program. You will find that LPNs aren't always treated with the level of respect they deserve so I think its important not to discount the difficulty of their curriculum.

Maybe LPN programs vary from college to college. At my local community college (where I attended to receive my ADN) the LPN program is not "college level". The only A&P required is an Intro class, computer literacy and a basic english. None of these transfer to state universities. I'm sure the nursing classes are difficult, but in this program there are two nursing classes each two semesters. Thats the program in it's entirerity(sp). It's not about a negative remark about quaility of education. My local CC has some of the highest NCLEX pass rates in the state for both RN and LPN!

Keep plugging away. Also - don't hesitate to look into other local programs. Mountainside and Holy Name Hospital have diploma programs and may accept you from Trinitas. Calling them and asking can't hurt.

I attend a tech college that has a progression program that allows the student to leave at the end of the lpn level or continue on to earn your adn. So, your a student side by side with lpn and rn students. It was not easy and the math was pass or you don't go forward. We needed the same prereqs. It was not easy and I understand your not expecting easy, just better than where your at now.

Sometimes, you have to figure out where you can juggle to put more time into courses you are struggling with. I do have to admit that it did get much more difficult for me when I went on. Only because your applying more critical thinking on the rn level than concentrating more on skills at the lpn level. Maybe check into a program like that, if they are available in your area. Good luck.

dyouville college www.dyc.edu

all you need is a 2.5

the downside is its a four yr program and the tuition is around 20,000 a yr

they do have an rn-bsn program if that is what you need

also i want to add to stay in the program you need to keep a 2.5 and C in your classes that is doable with hard work right
