Looking to move from So California to Kalamazoo, MI area. Have been Psych RN 6 years. Hubby from MI. Seems like jobs are scarce in this area. Any advice? Plan to go back to school for Psych NP. Is this or Psych RN with BSN marketable in this area of Michigan? My husband is from Michigan and I was raised in Midwest. Michigan is totally new to me other than 1 visit years ago. Where r good places to live or work? I am a veteran and thought of applying at VA Battle Creek, but they had 8 hr shifts and have worked w/ vet population before. Any advice?

Kalamazoo area has lots of RN jobs. Everybody seems to be hiring right now. As far as psych nurse that might be a little more narrow, but I still think you will have no problem finding a job here. I did a quick search at Borgess and didn't see any postings at this very moment. There's a posting at the state hospital in Kalamazoo too. Here's a link to that one - Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital. Bronson had some positions posted for adult psych at their Battle Creek location. I know the VA in Battle Creek has also had job posting in their psych department. It depends on how far you are willing to commute. Their are quite a few places in Grand Rapids as well. This area is not saturated with nurses and a lot of the hospitals are hiring right now. They have tons of positions that say "will hire new grads" now that they didn't have a year ago too. I don't think you'll have a problem finding a job here. Good luck to you!

I agree to check out Bronson hospital system, and the Battle Creek VA. Other than that I live on the opposite side of the state and really have no advice. Good luck.
