I have gathered up all these for a friend of mine on disability.
I thought I would share what I found with all of you. In hopes you will pass on the information, also.
Not sure if this is the right forum to post this.
These #'s and links are for all ages. Not just people on SSI.

Millions of low-income seniors "and people with disabilities"
don't qualify for prescription drug coverage under Medicare
but can't afford the medicines they need. To help, Eli Lilly
and Co. has launched a new patient assistance program called
LillyAnswers. The LillyAnswers card allows eligible partici-
pants to pay a flat fee of $12 for a 30-day supply of any
Lilly retail drug. Potential annual savings is $600 per med-
ication under Lilly's $12 fee. More than five million
Americans are eligible for the program. Enrollment is free
and began for eligible seniors on Tuesday, with participat-
ing pharmacies accepting the card beginning on April 1.
Enrollment applications are available by calling toll-free
1-877-RX-LILLY. For more information, visit

Free Medication and 'script assitance
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are some pharmaceutical companies that offer free medications to low-income families. They require a doctor's consent and proof of your financial status. Depending on what your insurance covers, you may be able to apply. A few companies even allow family incomes as high as $40,000 annually (offset by expenses, of course). Here is a list of psychotropic medications with corresponding companies that feature patient-assistance programs and their contact numbers.
Note: Some of these companies may prefer to speak directly with your doctor.

Many of these companies no longer require the meds to be delivered to the MD's office as in the past. And some only require the first order to be delivered to the MD's office. Some also now have automated systems, so the MD's office doesn't have to deal with the paperwork, and the pt. can handle it by themselves, after getting the initial paperwork done by the MD.
Some of these programs take as long as 4-6 months, and will not accept faxs, only the originals of any information sent. Most will walk you thru their paperwork. Some have lines that say busy constantly. But when the state of Oregon, stopped paying for RX, many people came to the clinics looking for help. It was the worse feelings to talk to people who were scared, that they would have to decide whether to eat, have a roof over their heads, or have the meds they needed to live.
We also found that some of the drug reps would give us, extra samples to help us out, while pts were trying to get into these programs.
OOOh I forgot! Some drug companies will provides immediate shipment of meds such as insulin to pts. who can't afford it. Just call them up!

:) Thank you so much for taking the time to reasearch and then inform others. although I live in Canada and this info isn't to useful to me personally I have a cousin who works in the United states and as soon as I have her email address I will forward this to her.
Again a BIG Thank You.
Wish I had info on any programs available in CANADA
Although we enjoy the luxury of haveing OHIP in Ontario and don't have to pay for hospital vistits. There is some like me who have no drug coverage.
In Ontario if you are low income you can apply for social assistance which cover basic drugs or to the trillium program and then you pay so much per year and they pay the rest.
Thankfully My children and I are healthy and I can buy into a drug plan at work. Right now I would be paying far more a year then the occasional antibiotic would cost me if one of my children was sick. The one chil I have legal custody of who is autictic and has epilespsy is on Ontario Disabilty services program and all his needs are covered
THANK Y OU
PS if anyone in Ontario has any info such as this please pass it along
