- Jan 27, '01 by LOPAIDNURSEWELCOME TO NURSING! I CAN TELL YOU THAT IN INDIANA THE BASE IN LTC IS 13-15/HR AND THEY GIVE A GENEROUS .10 CENTS AN HR. FOR EACH YR. OF EXPERIENCE UP TO 10 YRS. MAYBE YOU RECIEVE A SHIFT DIFF. IN HOSP IT IS LESS PER HR. BUT THEY WILL PAY MORE FOR EXPERIENCE AND USUALLY A SHIFT DIFF. I PRESENTLY WORK AGENCY AND RECIEVE 26-30/HR. I STARTED OUT IN 1978 MAKING 5.29/HR. NOW I CAN MAKE 16-17/HR BUT WITH INFLATION AND HIGHER EVERYTHING IT IS NOT A SIGNIFICANT GAIN. I WISH YOU WELL AND REMEMBER TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU AS MANAGEMENT WILL NOT ALWAYS HAVE YOUR BEST INTERESTS AT HEART.

- Jan 28, '01 by DuckieI work in Indiana as a Charge Nurse in a LTC facility. I am an LPN. I currently make $16.00 per hour and each year I get a 3% raise. I have 20 years experience, maybe that makes a difference.

I just graduated LPN school this past December. I just took a job at a local hospital here in Florida working on a med-surg unit. My pay is $10.60/hr. You are not going to make to much money starting off in Florida. You got to give yourself time and experience to start making the big bucks. I know for a fact that the nursing homes pay more than the hospital in Florida. Good luck and if you have any advice on taking the boards let me know.
