I am getting ready to take the PN boards and I have one question for you seasoned LPN's out there. Does the state boards stick to one area of medicine or does it look at all the aspects of medicine? (i.e maternal, pediatric, med surg) Thanks and wish me luck! Fingers crossed!

What part of Italy are you going to? You can get a job as a goverment employer. You would have to work in another position until a nursing position came up. At least you would have a secure job with the goverment. Also I don't know much about Regents school but you can study at home and get your RN.

Hey I just graduated LPN school this past December. I just took a job at a local hospital here in Florida working on a med-surg unit. My pay is $10.60/hr. You are not going to make to much money starting off in Florida. You got to give yourself time and experience to start making the big bucks. I know for a fact that the nursing homes pay more than the hospital in Florida. Good luck and if you have any advice on taking the boards let me know.

I see where you are coming from. When I was a student nurse I ran into a lot of nurses who did'nt want to take the time to show me a procedure because I was a student. I felt like screaming "you where once a student too!" Once you get treated bad by a bad nurse she makes you realize that you will never be like that as a person. Good luck!

Have you ever consider that it might be the Navy in general and not the fact that you are a nurse? Coming from experience of a Navy veteran. Once I got out of the service man did my life turn a 360. The pressure was gone and I felt like a ton of bricks was lifted of my shoulders. Don't get me wrong being in the Navy was a wonderful experience. I can tell you one thing Redeye, Navy medicine is very different that civilian medicine and that my friend can make a difference in someones career.

I agree with the other responders. Go for it! I joined the Navy when I graduated high school just so I could have money to go to college. Then I worked as a CNA through LPN school. Now I'm working as a LPN going through RN school. The point is you are not going to be a nurse over night. You have to start somewhere. I advise you to go to your local community college and make an appointment to see a counselor. They can help you set up a step by step plan for your success. Good Luck and keep us posted!

Colleen, I just wanted to tell you that I just graduated LPN school in Florida. They have a career mobility or bridge program for RN where I went to school. I think that is the best way to get your RN. I currently work as an LPN in a local hospital and I am starting RN school June of this year. I only go to RN school twice a week and the other days of course I work. Here in Florida the only thing the RN can do that I can not do is adminster blood and narcotics through an IV line. I also can not be charge nurse unless I am working in a Nursing Home Facility. At the time I did'nt know if nursing was the career choice for me. That is another reason why I chose to go to LPN school rather that a 2 yr RN program. After I graduated I realized that nursing is so rewarding and I made the right career choice. I just graduated nursing school a couple of months ago. It is now time for me to take the boards. I'm so nervous!!!!! Any helpful hits from you pros out there? I really need it before I lose my mind!
