Can anyone recommend a good rehab reference book. One that is really comprehensive, covering brain injuries, stroke, swallowing disorders, ortho/trauma rehab, and cardiac rehab??

I would really like to have a comprehensive rehab book on hand, and w/o having a large selection at the library or B&N stores, I would like personal recommendations.

Thanks!!

Wow, a great selection. Do you recommend any one book in particular over another? Thanks Karen!

Can ask my PT supervisor what they use...not experienced in all of these. Would go to local college and peruse their library..preferably college with nursing and PT program. My Alma mater Neumann has both.

Come on rehab nurses help hoolahan.

I used the text Rehabilitation Nursing, Process and Applications by Shirley Hoeman to study for the rehab nursing exam seven years ago. I still use it because it is so comprehensive. It is available through the American Rehab Nursing website.

Another comprehensive text is Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. I don't have a copy of this, I usually borrow it from on of the physiatrists, it is a required text for physiatry medicine and has alot of info. on rehab. diagnosis, treatment and management.

Comprehensive Rehabilitation Nursing

Jill B. Derstine, Editor

Shirlee Drayton Hargrove, Editor

This comprehensive clinical reference for rehabilitation nursing includes three major sections: general concepts in rehabilitation nursing, concepts of rehabilitation nursing related to patient and family care in chronic and disabling conditions, and a section devoted to the nursing management of common disabling conditions. The final section reviews rehabilitation nursing issues of the 21st century, including research, healthcare financing, and international nursing.
