IL license from out of state school?

I know some other people on here have graduated from a different state, then tested and applied for an IL license. Since I'm planning on moving to IL after graduation, I thought I'd ask those who have been through the process what the best steps are to take and in what order. I'm not graduating until May '11, but I want my ducks in a row and to make sure I understand what needs to be done ahead of time.

I know I need to take the NCLEX prior to my IL license application.

When can I start applying for jobs in IL?

When can I accept a position in IL?

I think I saw something regarding a temporary license while waiting for the full license on the IL BON website. Is it applicable to my situation?

I know this post seems a little scattered, but I hope I got my point across. (I've been ill the past couple days and my brain just isn't wanting to function correctly today, lol)

Any other information that can be helpful would be MUCH appreciated!

I work in IL, and currently our new practice act does not allow practice as a "license=pending" nurse. This means that until you have your license, you cannot be involved in direct patient care. now, you can start orientation/classroom/computer work before that time, but beware the IL dept is very slow about getting your license out...takes 4-6 weeks post notification that you have passed NCLEX. so about 8 weeks total.

good luck!

Yuk!

These are the kinds of bits of info that will definitely come in handy. :) Thank you very much!
