Hey guys! Here's the skinny... I need your help!

I have been on 3 12 nite shift in ICU for a little over a year now. I went directly to ICU out of school. I worked as a CNA in the same hospital on med-surg-peds while in nsg school. This is the only hospital I have ever worked in.

I have decided to take a 3 12 day shift at a different, but same sized facility. The department will be med-surg-peds.

Soo..different place, different shift and different department... EXCITING! :yeah:

I think that I have a lot to offer, but will fall short in many areas... like managing 5-8 pts versus 2, or the inability to directly see everyone, and their monitor. (I take comfort in these things.) I also have limited experience with CNA's and any kind of team approach, as we are primary care.

I am super excited, but don't want to fail. From those who know, what do I need to know/do/ask/not do/see to transition smoothly and fit in well??

Many Thanks, :) Ivanna

Oh my. I guess you know whether you're completely out of your mind or not. Nights to days?! eek! (Just kidding. For me that would be a sign of impending institutionalization.)

Check out threads here on brains and report sheets. Bring lots of different brains with you and try them out. Organization is usually the key to working well in any area. That, and 14 tons of coffee.

Actually, I think I am insane...but that is in need of its own thread altogether! Whats a brain?? ~Ivanna
