I would like to be a nurse in the entertainment industry...where to get started?

Nurses Career Support

Published

I am highly interested in being a nurse that works in the entertainment industry. I know nurses can work for sports teams, travel with musical/performing artists, and so much more. I do not want to be a traditional hospital nurse...I just feel like I do not fit in there. Any advice or suggestions on who I should contact? I am trying to research this idea as much as possible...

Thanks for any advice!

I do know that "HawthoRNe" had a "nurse consultant" that gave advice on medical procedures, language, etc. Scrubs magazine had an article about it about a year ago. You may be able to find it on their website. www.scrubsmag.com

Wonder if the Playboy Mansion hires nurses?

I'm sure there'd be many a disappointed nurse if to discover, when arriving, that they'd be caring for Hef and not the bunnies...

Contact all the big studios to see re jobs, CBS, Warner Bros - they should point you in the right direction one would hope.

I know this is an old thread, but I am a new member and am currently working on researching the importance of nurses on sports teams. While there is very little research and very little information out there. I am looking for what other nurses think our profession would have to add to a medical team of physicians when it comes to sports teams and athletes! Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Athletic trainers have a very broad scope of activities that pretty much cover all the 'sports medicine' realm. (Know someone who works with the Texans) They even do injections under the supervision of the team doc. If 'medical' care is needed, there is usually a physician/clinic on contract with the team. I don't see what value a nurse could add to the mix.

Every cruise ship has a medical team... with nurses. Might be a fun gig, but I am sure that they have to have regular shift work schedules to cover 24x7 while passengers are aboard.

If you Google "nurse concert volunteer", you'll see opportunities to volunteer as a nurse at concerts. That might be a good way to network with the right people and have some fun in the process!
