Me too! I'm especially excited because I took 2 vacation days, but that amounts to 12 days off from work. Granted, not 12 consecutive days off, but I am working my string of nights, then I get 6 days off. And, come back to work that next week working a bunch of hours knowing that I will get another 6 days off. I'm going to see my family on both sides, and relax. It's always good to have something to look forward to, especially working nights, on my usual scheduled days off, I never see the sunlight lol. This way, I will get to see the sunlight every day, and actually get to enjoy life. :).

Yes, I could just do the 6 on, 7 off schedule, and never have to use PTO time, but I would hate being at work 6 nights in a row. I literally would burn out every week if I did that lol. I need to work a few nights, have 2 or 3 nights off in between.

Shoegal, what's weekend option? Does this mean you get paid full time hours for only working 2 12's on sat and sun? That is awesome. If that's what that means, I wish I had that option. I wonder why my hospital doesn't do this. I assume hospitals only do that if they have to since it costs a ton; does your hospital have major staffing issues? There's always overtime available on my unit, but we never have to work short or take more than 2 patients.

This thread just made me truly realize how much I miss my 3 12's. I work 5 loooooong days a week and after this weekend flew by in a blink, I was telling myself how much I really want my 4 days off now. I need extra money so bad and can't find in me to pick up a weekend day because then I only get 1 off!Oh, I used to love take PTO for one day, yet having 6 off!Gitano, how do you do shift work as a single dad? Can't figure it out as a single mom of a 5 year old with no help except that one night a week my ex husband takes our daughter. Cheers to enjoying your days off!
