lifestyle....doctors have crappy hours, and i don't envy their job. i get to leave my work at work .......they are responsible and hold the liability most likely if something goes wrong. same reason i don't want to be a np......

besides the years of schooling and the money... They are 2 very different professions. two different careers. Doctors aren't glorified nurses..... well, some may say so.

Nurses can also be held liable for not catching what an MD does that is within her scope of practice to deal with (drug doses, treatments, not doing vitals simply because they're not ordered, etc).

There are a few reasons that I didn't pursue a doctor degree...

I didn't have that much passion to apply myself to the lengthy study,
I was too old when I started study.
I didn't have that much money to pay for the medical school education,

If I was younger, much younger, have the passion, time and money, I could have challenged myself to become a doctor.

I am happy to be a nurse.

If you are young, have no family responsibility, then go for it !!!

I suggest we close this thread.

It is a different career path. Nurses can be sued too.

I chose to be a nurse not a dr. Simple!
