How to check RN status?

Hi~ A while back (as in probably a year ago or so) I remember reading a thread on how people can go to a website and type in a name and they can check if that person currently has an RN license (possibly for LPNS and other health care professionals, not sure) and actually get that person's personal address and other info. Does anyone know what I"m talking about and what that website would be? Thanks!

Why were you checking other peoples' licenses?

I was checking because of the post I had read on this site and many people were checking their own because it really was inappropriate to have that information revealed. As I was a student I didn't have one, so I just checked people that I knew to see if I got the same result and I did. As I've just passed my boards I was wondering if the site was still available and what information it had about me. I agree with everyone, there is no reason why that information needs to be out there.

I checked because I was on Washington's website downloading forms to apply for a Nurse Tech certificate and I saw the link to check licences. Once you get there you can check licences for all healthcare workers- physicians to massage therapists, all you need is their licence type and their name, so I checked my own to see what it would say. It gave me my CNA licence number (that is all I have now), the original date I got it, when I last renewed, when I am due to renew, and that I have no actions against it.

So- the reason I checked is because I saw the link- that I did not know existed and I wanted to know what personal information was available.

In Georgia where I live the state BON lists address info for RN's. I don't like it.

In KS, you have to subscribe to a database in order to verify licenses. I don't think an individual can apply for a subscription.

My state gives my address, current status, if any discipline actions have been taken and renewal date. I think this is too much info for the general public to be able to obtain.
