Hi all,

I am a new grad graduated in June 2011 and still having a hard time landing a job. I thinking of being a dialysis nurse and was wondering if anyone know how I can land that job. I want to work in a dialysis clinic and i lived in the orange county area. Can anyone tell me how i can land a dialysis jobs with no experience? Know any clinic that is hiring? What is the best way to applied, on-line or in person? Do i need to take dialysis training program? Much information is need thanks.

heavenly days, dear, do you think a hemodialysis unit is some sort of low-level setting? although there are techs and lpns working hd in some places, in terms of rn responsibility it most certainly is not an entry-level job imho.

let me put it this way: although you may hear from somebody who got hired into a hd unit as a new grad with no other experience, anecdote is not the singular of data, and it would scare the pants off me to hear my patient was being treated in an hd unit by new grads.

ummm, yes, someone new to hd would need a dialysis training program. but we must hope that nurse already has a good working knowledge of what renal failure is all about, the common causes of it and how they influence treatment, how to recognize and treat arrhythmias due to rapid electrolyte shifts (and to know what all that means and what it looks like), and a host of other things. this is not a job for rookies.

Specializes in ICU.

The dialysis nurses I know had to have ICU experience. Sorry:/
