Folks, don't get me wrong. I LIKE my job, I like the people I work with, I enjoy most of the patients we get...even the confused LOLers, who think peeing is like the holy grail...cause they can't get enough of it....Foleys galore, nurses willing to stick up for ya, and not ask you for things that are UNneccessary....

Then you have the nights where this new "acuity" model comes into play...I walk into 14 patients....OVER HALF are "total care". Trying to get out of bed, feeders, foleys, incontinent issues, confused...whole nine yards. The other tech who was supposed to work with me tonight? Got pulled to pediatrics...where they had 6 adults, 1 total care, and 2 other techs.

Don't get me wrong. I understand the wee ones need a closer eye....but when mom/dad are there anyways....what are you doing in addition to that????? NOT A DANG THING!!! (I've worked peds on pull nights, and I'm SOOOOO BORED!)

It's a good shift.....nobody died or got hurt. It's sad to say that, but it's how I feel.....people got fed (although more than 1 tray got reheated), people got clean (although they may have been in BM for 1/2 hour), and we got done what we had to. I HATE saying that, because I pride myself on being a better tech than that.....I feel HORRIBLE when a patient is stuck in a situation, that "there but for the grace of God"....and I know when I look back as a educator, all these times will be "drilled" into my students in return...

ok, signing off...thanks for letting me vent....

On the plus side I had more than one interesting conversation tonight...especially with the frequent flyer who was talking about "sex helmets for the extra wide noodles"....LOL:lol2:

Well God bless ya for keeping your sense of humor. Don't know how you do it, people like you are amazing.
