My sister, who is also an RN (works in the OR) very recently had some "skin tags" removed from her neck area. They looked like tiny overgrown freckle/mole type things.
Anyway, one of the surgeons she works with noticed the red spots left on her neck as the places are beginning to heal. He told her there is a rather high correlation between "skin tags and high lipid levels" and suggested she keep an eye on her lipid profiles.
Has anyone ever heard of that correlation?
Thanks in advance,

Never heard that, but what you say makes sense concerning my husband! He has a ton of skin tabs and his triglycerides are somewhere in the 600's...on medication.....used to be in the 1200's!!
His cholesterol was never really outrageously high, just his triglycerides. Weird!

Yes I have heard of that.....I have the problem also, familial problems with high lipids. When I started having an elevation of my lipid level in my blood I started getting the skin tags. I am trying to get my lipid level down and then I will have the tags removed.

Yep. I heard of the correlation a few years back. I don't know if there is an ongoing study or not. I would imagine that the original study would have someone following up on it.
