Greatest concern/fear

Nurses General Nursing

Hello,

I am currently in a ADN program of which I graduate May 2007. I am new to this site allnurses.com. Anyways I recently registered and would like to know what is (was) your greatest concern/fear upon gradating as a nurse that you overcame? I look forward to using this site frequently. Thanks for your time and your opinions. I look forward to reading more on this topic.

My fear was that I didn't know enough and would harm someone. I have never harmed anyone to my knowledge and I learned that I am not alone....I will always have resources around to help me, and I'm not expected to know everything no matter how long I've been a nurse.

Thank goodness I am not the only one who has/had this feeling!!!! I almost feel like school was a blank.....Even when I was going to clinicals I had many days where I would literally feel like I knew nothing & how did I get this far in the program & someone is going to find out!!!.....it is a very unnerving feeling for sure!!!

I spent my entire first year feeling like I knew nothing, that I had learned nothing. Until the following year when the next crop of new grads was hired. One of them was surprised to find out I'd only been out a year, she said I acted like I'd been a nurse for a long time. That's when I realized just how far I'd come.
