Good clogs? For males?

I, like most of you, are on my feet for 10 hours a day. I'm tired of wearing shoes that make my feet ache. Are there any good clogs for males? I've seen a bunch of male residents in the hospital with cool clogs. I guess they are supposed to be very comfortable. Any suggestions? I've heard that Birkenstocks or Danskos are great. I need something I can wear with Docker pants and a shirt and tie. I don't wear scrubs.

Shoes were very restrictive then so I had to chose my feet or career and chose another career I trully enjoy but since like to keep abreast in nursing. Anyway Birkenstocks make several closed foot styles that aren't that bad. I have walked many amusement parks in them! Good luck!

Boy Chris you paint quite an attractive picture of yourself - Docker pants, shirt and tie? Nice! wink.gif

Anyway I wear Birks and they are great. I think they would also look cool with what you wear everyday. They are expensive but last a very, very long time. My friend has hers for 7 years and all she had to do was get them resoled. How many shoes that you wear daily like that last that long? Not many. I would try on the Birks - you'll be impressed.

Chris, I have seen no clogs here in the South for nurses, male or female. I have heard lots of jokes about males wearing clogs must be gay. I really don't know.

HEY!!! I'm in the south, and I have an AWESOME pair of clogs!! wink.gif I've had the bones cut out and re-aligned in one foot, plus plantar fascitis (sp?) in both, PLUS no arches in both. My feet, in a word, SUCK. I wear Dansko clogs (with the enclosed heel), and those babies are AWESOME. One of the male docs I work with wears the Dansko clogs I have, but his are dark brown, so they really look nice with his DOCKER PANTS AND TIE. wink.gif

Hello,

My vote is for the Dansko clogs as well. I have two pair and I love them. When I come home at least my feet do not hurt. I had the birkenstocks in school and they conformed to my feet too much. I have a bad ankle and needed more support. I have seen many doc's and male nurses wearing these Dansko clogs here on the east coast, and they do look nices with docker's and a tie. Happy shopping! smile.gif

Thank you so much everyone. I think I am going shopping today for the Danskos.

Thanks,

Chris

I have owned and comfortably wore Birks for years but these are far and away much more comfortable. I convinced my husband to try them (med student) and he LOVES his---especially in the OR when he's on his feet for hours. I am an IV nurse and run around the hospital all day in them. You won't be sorry you tried them. Geez, and I don't even get $$ for this endorsement smile.gif

I also have to wear the dockers/shirt/tie crap [i prefer jeans & tee's myself, but...] Anyway, I also had the problem with the uncomfortable dress shoes. I bought a pair of black Nike airs. They look EXACTLY like dress shoes [the lace up type], and you would have NO idea that they were sneakers, because even the NIKE emblem is black. Needless to say, walking with them is effortless.

The only thing is- they only look new for about 6 months, so, if you want to get away with these 'dress' shoes, you have to buy a new pair every 6 months.

Where could one go about finding Birks or Danskos? I will graduate in one month and I will be working full time after I pass the NCLEX. In a previous post, many people suggested Danskos and Birkenstocks, but I don't know where to find them. Are these brands carried in Uniform stores or retail stores? Is there a web-site I can order from? I need to go shopping soon to buy some comfortable shoes, so your input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Rileycat.....I just purchased Fin Comforts " VASSA ", found on the net under Happy feet .com.......they are the only shoes that I can bear to wear...and at 260 they ought to be made of gold Or at least have golden laces!!!! However I know they last For years...REALLY. Dillards, the store, here in Southgate mall has the Fin Comforts but I don't think they carry Vassa

Had to put my vote in for anywheres clogs- lots cheaper than birkies (which I also like, but the money, the money) They come in a nice variety of colors from canary yellow, orange and purple to more sedate blue, blakc and brown. They stay squishy! If you can buy shoe shoes, however, I suggest ANYTHING made by Ecco-so comfortable, I can't even explain it.
